WELCOME TO

THE CLUB JUNIOR SPORTCH LADDER

Tennis Works at Stony Stratford Tennis Club started a new ladder league in January and it is already proving a huge hit with 56 active juniors participating. It would be great to get more juniors in the club involved, whether this is their first competition or they play regularly. It’s ability based and they can play as much as they like but all goes towards earning points in the league. It's £40 for a whole year, whenever you start which is great value and will help the players within the club.

BRAND NEW SPORTCH NIGHT - EVERY FRIDAY 5-8PM - TERM TIME

For those who are playing with orange, green or yellow balls have an opportunity to play every Friday night during term time with the organisation and support of a coach. Richard Walters runs the session and will organise who is playing who whilst helping the players throughout their matches. All players come from 5-8pm each week and will be on and off court depending on when they are playing. Richard will also adapt the scoring system so matches are shorter and everyone lets more matchplay against each other.

To sign up to this, please click here The cost for the Fridays is £35/month, which is in addition to the £40 cost of joining the league.

Red ball and mini courts - Those born in 2014 or later (Age 8&U)

  • This category runs differently to the others as most players will be young, matches are a lot shorter and we want this to be a great experience to start with. There will be 7 events with a competition organiser so everyone can compete at the same time with the support of the parents' involvement. Matches will be the First to 10 points by 2 clear points (e.g. 10-8) and all balls will be provided. All events during 2022 will run from 1-3pm on Saturdays and the dates are: 31st May; 11th June;  9th July; 24th September; 8th October; 12th November; 10th December.

Awards

Medals are awarded for the top 3 ‘Highest Risers' and top ‘Sportsmen' every quarter - These are the people who have moved furthest up the ladder within a 3-month period and been rated the highest on sportsmanship by their opponents. The periods will be:

1. January to March

2. April to June

2. July to September

3. October to December

1st, 2nd & 3rd place trophies will be presented at the end of year who finish at the top of the overall league. The awards day will be in December at the Junior Christmas Party on the 17th December

However, you can join at ANYTIME and you get a full year's membership and play fully in ladder for a year from when you join

Equipment

Players are required to bring their own rackets, purchase floodlight tokens when required, wear suitable clothing / footwear and bring drinks / food for their matches. The players must also provide tennis balls for each match, which can be purchased at a discounted rate from Tennis Works. Players must discuss who provides the balls at the time of arranging the match. The matches will be played in accordance with the LTA rules. All players must try and ensure they turn up early so they can get warmed up and ready to play on time.
